Proposed changes to health services – please give your views

 

A public consultation to health services in the County has been launched and comments are invited on proposed changes to:

  • The way hospital beds are used and to bring more care closer to home in Oxfordshire
  • Planned care at the Horton General Hospital in Banbury (planned care includes tests and treatment planned in advance and not urgent or emergency care)
  • Acute stroke services in Oxfordshire
  • Critical care at the Horton General Hospital (critical care helps people with life-threatening or very serious injuries and illnesses)
  • Maternity services including obstetrics, Special Care Baby Units (this also affects emergency gynaecology surgery).

    Consultation events will be held across the county. You will be able to talk to clinicians and senior NHS Leaders and share your views about these proposals. Places will be limited according to venue size so please book ahead. We really want to have a conversation with you.

    Headington councillors are concerned about possible changes in traffic volume to and from the John Radcliffe and Churchill sites resulting from the proposed changes and are trying to find out more.

Revised timetable for energy pipe works

REVISED TIMETABLE FOR THE ENERGY LINK

The project re-commenced on time in January, but the whole timetable has now been delayed by three factors:

  1. Installing the storm drain and sewer for the Winvic development on Latimer Road
  2. Unforeseen concrete and Utilities Congestion in All Saints Road and Lime Walk
  3. County Council Access to Headington work at Roosevelt Drive/Old Road currently over-running by two weeks.

Vital Energi apologises for any inconvenience that these delays may cause and will do everything they can to make up lost time if at all possible and to assist residents and stakeholders at all times. There is no provision for night or weekend work to make up lost time as this would require a variation to the planning consent, which would take weeks to come through, delaying the process still further.

The new Timetable is as follows, but please note that it could change again depending on the concrete/utilities under the roads, the weather, if the dig teams can make up lost time or if Vital is delayed getting onto London Rd, Old Rd by the Access to Headington work at Roosevelt Drive.

Where the dig goes past a junction, the work section will end and begin halfway across the junction so that one side of the road is always kept open.

Long awaited consultation on health services launched

A public consultation on changes to services in Oxfordshire will run from 16 January 2017 to 9 April 2017

This is the first phase of a two part consultation – phase 2 consultation will follow later this year – and the consultation focusses on the following:

  •   Changing the way we use our hospital beds and increasing care closer to home in Oxfordshire
  •   Planned care at the Horton General Hospital (planned care includes tests and treatment planned in advance and not urgent or emergency care)
  •   Acute stroke services in Oxfordshire
  •   Critical care (critical care helps people with life-threatening or very serious injuries and illnesses) at the Horton General Hospital
  •   Maternity services at the Horton General Hospital including obstetrics and the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).

Up and coming events in Oxford

Energy pipe – Christmas update

Work on the first phase of the energy pipe works is coming to an end. Trenches in Lime Walk, All Saints Road and Latimer Road are being backfilled and resurfaced, ready for a final clean on Friday. At today’s meeting with the County Council, Vital Energi and the Trust, we discussed the lining in the affected roads. It was agreed that double yellow lines would be painted before the start of the Christmas weekend – if this cannot be scheduled by the City Council, this will be done by Vital Energi as we don’t want any safety issues to come up from parking on corners and other hazardous spots. White lines for parking slots need to be checked to make sure locations tally exactly with traffic orders, so will be re-painted back in the New Year.

The second stage of works to the south side of London Road will resume on 3 January. Work on the north side of London Road is scheduled to start on January 16th. For the schedule of works, please go to the Trust’s website via this link.
