Date for your diary – Re-fashion event

For those who remember her feisty performance at our Ward Focus Meeting, Amy from the City Council is organising the above event and hopes to welcome you there!

She says:

Our award winning ReFashion event is returning on Thursday 10th March at The Oxford Town Hall and we’d love as many of you as possible to join us in encouraging sustainable textile use in the drive to reduce, reuse and recycle our consumption.

Jack2 FM will be returning as the compere, we’ll have five schools strutting their stuff down the catwalk, vintage and second hand clothes sales, ‘swishing’ (clothes swapping), repair workshops and much more, including Donnington Doorstep cakes.

With your help of spreading the word, we’re hoping to see more than 1,500 members of the public at the free event.

Public meeting about the hospitals’ energy project

PUBLIC MEETING

Wednesday 9 December

7:00-9:00 pm

All Saints Church House, New High Street, OX3 7AL

Works are due to start on trench digging in residential roads from 4th January but there has been an embargo on communications until the press launch earlier this week.

We know our residents are worried because they don’t know what’s going to happen or when, and there will be a number of road closures during which no through traffic will be allowed, although footpaths will still be accessible.

We are pleased to say that reps from both the hospitals’ trust and the contractors have agreed to come along and answer questions from the public, so it should be a very lively meeting

The Trust has published answers to our residents’ list of questions on their website

We are sorry there hasn’t been much notice of this meeting but we want to hold it as soon as possible given the levels of anxiety shown at last week’s Ward Focus meeting

Festive singing at Headington Library on Saturday

Barton Sings will share festive songs at Headington Library on Saturday 5 Dec. between 2:00 – 2:30. The group meets weekly in Barton, and will be encouraging people to join in.

Barton Sings is an inclusive, integrated singing group where about a third of participants have dementia or are supporting someone with dementia.

If you are in Headington at the weekend please do join Janet Stansfeld, community singing practitioner, and the group sing in that festive feeling!

Headington Singers concert

The Headington Singers’ December concert is taking place on Friday 4 December when they’ll be performing the exuberant  Vivaldi Gloria in a concert of superb baroque music. This includes a Vivaldi bassoon concerto (La Notte) and a glorious setting of the Miserere by Francesco Scarlatti. This work is rarely performed but is surely due for ‘rediscovery’. They will be accompanied by the Headington Singers Orchestra with Sally Mears conducting as usual.

The concert starts at 7.30pm at All Saint’s Church, Lime Walk, tickets on the door £12 (£10 concessions and children 12 and under free). They will be serving drinks in the interval so we can meet and mingle.
