Armed robbery at Lloyds TSB Bank

Thames Valley Police is currently investigating an armed robbery at Lloyds TSB Bank in London Road, Headington.

Police were called at 09.53am today (21/01) after two men entered the building carrying guns. They threatened cashiers and took money from the tills. At this time it is unclear how much was taken.

One offender is white, around 5ft 9ins, of slim build wearing a black hat and scarf around his face with a yellow high-visibility vest over a black coat.

The second offender is white, in his late teens or early twenties, around 5ft 6ins, of average build. He was wearing a hat and scarf across his face, with a yellow high visibility vest over a checked shirt.

The two men left on foot and headed in the direction of the John Radcliffe Hospital.

The branch of Lloyds TSB Bank in Headington has been closed to the public while the police investigation takes place.

Armed officers have been deployed to deal with the incident.

Det Sgt Mark Stalder said, “Police are currently investigating and additional patrols will be located around the area. Anyone who witnessed the incident or with information that may assist our investigation should call 101.”
