The County Council is carrying out carriageway and pedestrian footway upgrades from 26 September – 4 December in the following locations:
Old Road, The Slade, Windmill Road, Lime Walk, Latimer Road, All Saints Road, Highfield Avenue, Finch Close, Valentia Road, Stapleton Road, Bickerton Road, Horspath Driftway, Girdlestone Road, Dene Road and Cinnaminta Road
Traffic Management during the road works
In order to carry out the works safely and efficiently, a number of road closures are required.
These will be individually noticed on site and county officers will write to those more locally and directly affected by them prior to these closures.
The closures will be in operation on a full-time basis whilst those local works are being completed and diversion routes will be signed.
At other locations, works will be undertaken within temporary traffic signals in place.
David and I have received a couple of complaints that some affected residents have not been notified, please let us know if this is not the case
Dear sir
Your footpath repairs have caused total chaos on old road – with more thought you could have maintained 2 way traffic flow at the traffic lights – did you study traffic flow and volume before setting up your temp lights – thanks for wasting everyones time with total incompetence yet again
Why weren’t these old road works done in the summer before the schools and university students/staff come back when the traffic volume is low. Its been chaos getting to and from work at the hospital this week – some of us commute a long way to Oxford (as its too expensive to live here) and this is badly planned and executed with no thought for residents or commuters. Also it would help to get the works done at the weekend to minimise disruption and speed up the process.
Also the temporary lights got stuck on red this morning adding to the problems.
I have to question why these works require such lengthy widespread disruption and why the works could not have been done during the quieter Summer months. The knock on effects of the road closures has caused major disruption on other routes into East Oxford; especially those serving the areas four hospitals. Our 30 minute journey to the John Radcliffe and Warneford Hospitals has become a 80 minute journey.
I hope that the council are going to address the gridlock that has affected Headington over the last few days. There really is no excuse this utter shambles.
